Lesson 5: Mock ORT

It's time to put together what we've learned in this course by taking a test modeled after the Nosework Odor Recognition Test, designed to definitively examine whether the dog actively searches for the correct odor with an alert that the handler can recognise. A dozen boxes will be laid out in a line pattern. Handlers will not know which box the odor is in. Each dog/handler team will be sent in singly and given three minutes to search the area. Upon the dog communicating his find, the handler will call "alert" without rewarding the dog. If the instructor responds in the affirmative, then the handler may reward the dog.
